Tickets are released exactly 30 days in advance on a rolling, minute-by-minute basis matching the entry time slots. If you want a 9:30 AM ticket for October 15th, you must be on the website at exactly 9:30 AM Rome time on September 15th.
The standard €18 ticket only gives you access to the 1st and 2nd tiers. If you want to walk where the gladiators stood or see the tunnels beneath, you must specifically buy the "Full Experience" or "Arena" tickets, which sell out in seconds.
If the official site shows no availability, do not panic. Tickets get released back into the system in small 5-minute batches due to cart timeouts. Refresh the page persistently. Alternatively, queue up at the official ticket office on-site at 8:30 AM sharp for same-day releases.
